Well done to all who ran on 5 August in probably the wettest 1 Mile event we have had, writes organiser John Denyer. We had some very close finishes and some new entries into the Club Best performances. Thanks to Duncan & Pauline for their help with the results recording etc.

Bridgit Weekes overcame chronic knee issues to finish first W60 at the East Peckham 10k on 1 August, as four of SAC's more mature runners tackled one of the flatest courses in Kent. The event doubled as the SCVAC championships, providing plenty of age-category competition for the Sevenoaks runners. The previous two runnings of this race were in scorching conditions, but cloud and light rain prevailed so that PBs could have been possible for younger clubmates. As it was, the post-race conversations mainly featured health issues! Nevertheless, Bridgit's WMA score was around 81.5. The SAC results were as follows:

John Denyer won the July handicap race with a huge improvement over his previous time for the five mile course.
Simon Hallpike was second and moves up to third in the series table.
Suzy Claridge continues to lead the series ahead of Dan Witt.
The next race, over seven miles, starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 08:30 on Sunday 29th August. It will be the 400th for which the club has records.
