The Sevenoaks Junior Athletic Team were in action this Sunday (8th May) at the Kent Young Athlete League at Norman Park, Bromley.
Fielding a competitive team for the first time in six years, Sevenoaks AC we were up against six other Kent teams. In hot conditions the team got off to a flying start with 2nd places by Dulcie Pascual and Georgina Burke in the 75m Hurdles.
"It’s hard to pick out individual performances" said Team Manager Darrell Smith. "Everyone did well, and for many it was their first experience of competitive athletics, but Sebastian Burke’s time of 41.9 for 2nd place in the 300m was probably the individual Club performance of the day."
"The Under 13 girls did really well in the 4 x 100m relay placing 2nd and equalling the 13 year old Club record. However, the changeovers were ropey so if we can address that then a new record is within sight this season" said Coach Smith.
Going into the last event, the Under 15 girls 4 x 300m, the team had dropped down to 6th place. Despite being tired the girls turned out and ran. They made 2nd place in the race which pushed the teams up to equal 5th with Tonbridge AC.
The Club’s next Match is on the 5th June.
