SAC 10 at Paddock Wood Half

 

Keith Brown was first SAC athlete at the Paddock Wood Half on 5 April with a gun time of 1:23:08 (chip 1:23:04) for 56th place as ten of our intrepid runners contested the event. Heather Fitzmaurice led the SAC women with 1:32:59 (1:32:44)in 263rd, while Rob Carr had a good run with 1:34:17 (1:33:59) for 295th. The other seven were: Simon Bishop 452nd 1:38:57 (1:38:29); Scot Haggarty 562nd 1:42:37 (1:41:36); Deborah Munton 792nd 1:48:41 (1:41:36); Lynette Van Der Berg 1184th 1:58:35 (1:57:44); Anthony Ostlere 1450th 2:07:23 (2:05:36); James Fitzmaurice 1667th 2:17:01 (2:16:10); and Maryanne Aitken 1727th 2:20:33 (2:18:58). SAC Juniors Represent Kent

 

Tabitha Adams was 99th out of 335 runners as she ran for Kent at the ESAA English Schools National Cross Country Championships at Stanford Hall, Leics on 21 March. Adams was 7th finisher for Kent in the Junior Girls race. Full results HERE. Adams had previously been selected for Kent in the English Schools Cross Country at Bexley, where she was first Kent finisher in the year 8 girls race. Alistair Bishop and Jamie Monkhouse also ran for Kent in the corresponding boys year 8 race at the event. Full results HERE. And Megan Hawes has also represented the county when she was third Kent girl in the National Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on 7 March. Full results HERE.

 

SAC Seven at Knole 10k

 

Seven Sevenoaks AC runners turned out for the club at the Knole Park 10k on 15 March. Cathy Hughes was the star with 3rd F35 and 77th in 45:57. Keith Brown was first SAC runner in 13th in 39:46, while Andrew Mead was 32nd in 42:01. Simon Bishop (117th in 47:53), Geoffrey Kitchener (121st in 47:57), Jane Morgan (296th in 55:49) and Judith Eden (454th in 63:23) were our other finishers. Full results HERE.

 

KFL Relays and Awards 2009

 

Sevenoaks AC couldn't quite put together a team for the KFL end-of-series relays on 8 March. But congratulations to Caitlin Carr (1st U16), Chris Desmond (1st M45) and Rob Murray (3rd SM) on their series awards. Relay results HERE.

 

Three Contest Thanet 20

 

Just three Sevenoaks AC athletes made it to Thanet for the County 20-mile championship on 1 March. Second claim member Rob Murray was 28th in 2:17:54, Lindsey Shing 121st in 2:37:12, and Sally Shewell 257th in 2:53:50. Full results HERE.

Juniors Do The National

 

Eleven Sevenoaks AC junior athletes competed at the English National Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday 21 February. Tabitha Adams was the individual star with 47th place in the U13 girls, while the U15 girls team of Megan Hawes, Megan Annetts, Sophie Foggin, Katie Dunn and Emma Campbell were a brilliant 27th. Allan Fourth at Parkwood

 

Allan Lee was fourth in the final Kent League XC of the season at Parkwood School, Swanley on 14 February. Allan was joined by Chris Desmond in 35th and Keith Brown in 40th, but SAC lacked a fourth scorer on the day. Nevertheless the club finished ninth overall in the league of 18 scoring clubs. Good Times at Sidcup Ten

 

David Ives was twentieth in a fast time in the second GP of the year, the Sidcup 10 on 8 February. John Denyer was 2nd over-60, and Pauline Dalton was five minutes faster than at the Canterbury 10 with a sub-70 minute run. The full Sevenoaks results were:

Wins for Caitlin and Senior Women at KFL Knole

 

 

Caitlin Carr sealed the series victory in her category in the Kent Fitness League with a fine run in the junior race at Knole Park on 1st February. And in the senior women's section, the SAC team of Heather Fitzmaurice, Lindsey Shing and Cathy Hughes had a fine win, comfortably clear of Larkfield and Paddock Wood and 13 others. The combined team were sixth, led once again by Rob Murray, with Chris Desmond and John Denyer also prominent. In the final team placings, the women were a brilliant third and the combined team sixth. The full Sevenoaks results were:

Juniors in Three Competitions

 

Sevenoaks AC junior athletes were in action in three competitions at the weekend of 17/18 Jan. Megan Hawes had a great run to finish third (15:39) in the annual Knole Run cross country in Knole Park. Full results HERE. On the same day, six SAC athletes competed in the Kent Schools XC champs at Mote Park. Tabitha Adams was SAC's top performer with sixth in the Junior Girls race (12:05). Adams was followed by Katie Dunn, 38th in 13:50, and Megan Annetts finished in 88th (16:34) despite twisting her ankle. In the Junior Boys race, Jamie Monkhouse was 28th in 16:07 and Miles Hawes 72nd in 17:29. And Emma Campbell was 23rd (20:06) in the Inter Girls race. Full results HERE. On the previous day, three Sevenoaks athletes were at the Sportshall event at Sittingbourne. Lewis Church was 12th in the U13 boys with best performance in the speed bounce event and third best in the vertical jump. Ives Starts Title Defence

 

2008 GP champion David Ives led the SAC runners home with ninth place in the first race of the 2009 series over 10 miles at Dartford. John Denyer also impressed with fourth M60. The full Sevenoaks results were:

Second KFL Win for Caitlin

 

Caitlin Carr kept up her challenge in the KFL junior league with her second series win at Minnis Bay on 11 January. Bulk packing by the east Kent clubs affected the Seniors' result, but the performances were excellent, led by Rob Murray in fourth and Heather Fitzmaurice in fifth. John Denyer was first M60. The combined team were eighth, the women an excellent third and the men eighth. With just our home match to go, the combined team stand sixth with both the men and women fifth. Under 15 Girls Show the Way at Detling

 

Megan Hawes was SAC's top performer at the County XC Championships at Detling on 10 January. Hawes was 6th as she led the U15 girls to 5th in the team race. Megan Annetts (20th) and Emma Campbell (28th) provided the excellent support. The U13 boys were also fifth, led by Jamie Monkhouse in 9th with Alastair Bishop (20th), Anders Kairsguard (29th) and Miles Hawes (32nd). The senior men were one short of a team due to David Lee being ill, but his brother Allan was an impressive 8th in the individual event. David Ives (42nd), Chris Desmond (61st), Keith Brown (81st) and Rob Peers (84th) also ran well. Mads Kairsguard was SAC's only other competitor with a solo effort for 34th in the U15 boys. The team was down to 13 members, but SAC kept up their challenge in the Kent Fitness League with two matches to go. SAC men were led by a fine performance from Rob Peers to ninth, while Cathy Hughes had a great run to lead the women to sixth. The combined team were eighth. This was our best result of the season: third in Men’s, Ladies and Combined Team results. We had some stand out performances from Rob Murray (2nd), Chris Desmond (9th) and Keith Brown (18th). Also John Denyer (2nd M60), Geoff Vine (3rd M60) and Heather Fitzmaurice (9th in the ladies race). After 4 matches, the Men’s team are 3rd, The Ladies are 5th and our Combined Team placing is 4th! Allan Third at Danson Park

 

Allan Lee was third in the third Kent League XC at Danson Park on 6 December. Allan was joined by Chris Desmond in 36th, Keith Brown in 39th and Rob Peers 70th for sixth team (8th after 3 races). They were backed up by Fraser Partridge, who was 85th despite suddenly ageing ten years - according to the results. No SAC juniors attended, leaving the U13 girls 8th out of ten, U15 girls 7th out of nine and U13 boys 5th out of 6 at the final reckoning. Further info on KCAA website.

Caitlin Wins at Rough Common

Snowdonia Marathon

 

Fifty mph winds and a torrential downpour characterised this year's Snowdonia Marathon, but Lindsey Shing would do the race again. Lindsey explains HERE.
