The 2024 Track Season was our most successful yet with 25 Athletes competing at County Championships, earning twelve Medals, writes coach Darrell Smith. We had 22 Club Records broken over the course of the Season with four Athletes qualifying for Nationals.
In the Kent Young Athlete League (U13/U15), despite great turn out and 100% commitment we couldn’t make top 6 Teams, so go back down to Div 2 next Summer. I’m confident our Team will be a strong contender to be promoted back up to Div 1 next Summer with a Team that looks even stronger than last year.
With many of our U17s facing GCSEs turnout in the Southern Athletic League (U17s and older) was patchy but next Summer we have in excess of 20 U17/20 Athletes eligible so hoping we can have more of a presence in this League.
The Season culminated in July with the English Track and Field Champs at Birmingham. In the U15B 300m Lucky Hayes placed 5th in his Heat to narrowly miss making the Semi Final. In the U17M 100m Toby Vagg placed 7th. The best performance by an SAC Athlete was Liv Mtungwazi who placed 5th in her 100m semi Final narrowly missing the Final.
