Kent Cross County League - Mote Park, Maidstone - 25 Oct 2008 |
Saturday
25th of October saw the second race in the Kent County Athletics Cross
County League staged in Mote Park, Maidstone, writes Rob Carr.
The conditions were ideal for XC running. It was a cold but sunny day, with only a slight breeze. The ground was quite soft but not soggy, making spikes arguably the best footwear to use. The course was one small lap and then 3 large ones constituting an approximately 6 mile race. The race attracted a field of 159 runners and was won by Dean Lacy of Cambridge Harriers in a time of 33:49. Despite a few regulars being unavailable due to injury and other commitments, Sevenoaks AC fielded a full team strengthened by the inclusion of Allan and David Lee. In fact Allan finished in a fantastic 13th place in a time of 36:18, which is particularly remarkable as he does not even consider himself back to race fitness yet. Keith Brown showed his consistency by once again being second placed Sevenoaks AC runner. He finished in 81st place (42:55). Rob Peers showed he is returning to form finishing in 92nd place (44:02), ahead of David Lee 104th (45:15) and Fraser Partridge 109th (45:37). Sevenoaks AC gained 5 match points which placed us 11th on the day. After two races we are placed 10th with 8 points (see tables below): Senior Men (First 4 to Score) Club Points Match Points 1 Tonbridge AC 18 15 2 Medway and Maidstone AC 30 14 3 Cambridge Harriers 82 13 4 Tunbridge Wells Harriers 154 12 5 Dartford Road Runners 195 11 6 Invicta East Kent AC 200 10 7 Bexley AC 215 9 8 Canterbury Harriers 251 8 9 Paddock Wood AC 267 7 10 Folkestone Road Runners 279 6 11 Sevenoaks AC 290 5 12 Ashford AC 321 4 13 Dartford Harriers 343 3 14 Ashford Road Runners 346 2 15 Beckenham Road Runners 356 1 Senior Men After 2 Meetings Club Points 1 Tonbridge AC 28 (35) 2 Medway and Maidstone AC 26 (53) 3 Cambridge Harriers 21 (273) 4 Invicta East Kent AC 21 (368) 5 Dartford Road Runners 21 (379) 6 Tunbridge Wells Harriers 18 (362) 7 Bexley AC 16 (413) 8 Folkestone Road Runners 15 (463) 9 Canterbury Harriers 8 (251) 10 Sevenoaks AC 8 (565) 11 Paddock Wood AC 7 (267) 12 Dartford Harriers 7 (561) 13 Istead and Ifield 5 (211) 14 Ashford AC 4 (321) 15 Beckenham Road Runners 3 (751) 16 Ashford Road Runners 2 (346) 17 Deal Tri 1 (440) There is quite a gap until the next KCAA XC League event which is to be held at Danson Park on Saturday 6 December, but before that there are 3 Kent Fitness League events as follows: Nov 9th Swanley Park, Swanley Nov 23rd Rough Common, Canterbury Nov 30th Nurstead Court, Meopham |
