Sevenoaks AC Handicap 16 March 2025 |
Jon Maxim won the third event of the 2025 Sevenoaks AC handicap series in his best time for five years over the hilly five mile course. Maxim beat his handicap by over a minute for a time of 38:01 and was the first of three runners inside their targets in bright but chilly conditions.
Anthony Waldron pipped Heather Fitzmaurice to second place by just one second with 39:12, his fastest time over the course for eight years, while Fitzmaurice was the first and fastest scoring woman with 40:53. Jon Maxim was the fastest man, although Jane Waldron, daughter of the second-placed runner and non-scoring in her first SAC handicap race, was fastest overall on the day with 37:32. Three races into the series, no-one has yet emerged as a likely challenger for the series trophy, which goes to the runner with the best finishing positions over the whole series of races. However, most of those races are yet to come. The fourth race of the 2025 series is over the alternate seven-mile distance. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 08:30 on Sunday 6th April. Handicaps for runners who have participated in the last twelve months are here, but newcomers are very welcome to take part. Details are on the Sevenoaks AC website here. |
Further 2025 series dates: Sunday 08:30: 6 April (7M), 25 May (5M), 1 June (7M), 20 July (5M), 17 August (7M), 7 September (5M). |
