In wet and windy conditions, Darius Sarshar won the final race of the Sevenoaks AC 2018 handicap series and recorded the fastest time of the day.

Sarshar beat his handicap by fifty-one seconds with a time of 46:39 for the hilly seven-mile course and won by twenty-seven seconds from Sylvia Lewis. Lewis also beat her handicap, in her case by twenty-four seconds, and was fastest woman on the day with 71:26. Fourteen seconds behind Lewis, Dan Witt was the only other runner under his handicap to finish well clear in third place with 47:50.

Although both Sylvia Lewis and Dan Witt improved their series positions in the race, none of the participants on the day was in contention for the series trophy or minor placings. Jon Copping was already confirmed as the trophy winner, and completion of the final race left Andrew Mead in second place and Graham Dwyer third in the twelve race series. Congratulations to those three. In all, fifteen runners completed the necessary four races to score in the series.

Following the conclusion of the 2018 series a new series for 2019 begins in the New Year. The first race is over the alternate five mile course. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 9 am on Sunday 20th January. Newcomers are very welcome to come and run.
