Four of the six runners still in contention for the Sevenoaks AC 2010 handicap trophy toed the start line for final race on a freezing Boxing Day morning at the Sevenoaks School running track. Joint leader Chris Desmond, third-placed Andrew Mead, fifth-placed David Truman and sixth-placed Camila Lewis were among the strong turnout tackling the snow and ice covering most of the hilly seven mile course.

Although there was little wind and some bright sunshine, the underfoot conditions slowed all the runners so that none were close to their handicaps. However, there were some very competitive performances, particularly from the main contenders as all four of them finished in the first seven places. First to show was David Truman who has been in excellent form with two wins and a second place in his last three races. Truman led from early on until the last few hundred metres when he was passed by Camila Lewis, closely followed by winner of the previous race Anthony Waldron and former course record holder Lyndon Collins. Then as Lewis and Waldron battled for the line, Chris Desmond was closing fast on Truman around fifty yards further back.

Waldron just won the race by seven seconds in 48:34 from Lewis in 52:10. Collins was third in 53:17 while Desmond pipped Truman (57:48) for fourth by eight seconds with an excellent 44:40. However, Allan Lee in sixth was even faster with 41:40, the fastest time of the day, ahead of Andrew Mead in seventh in 45:16.

Although Desmond's fourth place was not enough to improve his own series placing, the effect of consigning his rival to fifth was to prevent Truman from winning the series. So despite losing out on first place, Camila Lewis's second place on the day was enough to give her the series win by one point, with Truman second and Desmond another point behind in equal third with Rob Carr who missed the final race.

The final series table therefore reads:

Following the conclusion of the 2010 series a new series for 2011 begins in the new year. The first race is over the alternate five mile course. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 9 am on Sunday 2 January. Newcomers are very welcome to come and run.
