Alan Male won the April running of the 2025 Sevenoaks AC handicap series by just over a minute from Jon Maxim, with Chris Desmond another forty-nine seconds back in third.
The usual hilly seven mile course had to be altered near the start, adding about 450 metres and putting the handicaps just out of reach. But in sunny conditions with a cold wind, Male set a time of 58:25, while Maxim was fastest on the day with 55:18 and Desmond finished in 55:47.
In fifth place, Heather Fitzmaurice was the fastest woman with 60:30.
After four of the nine races, just two runners have already completed the necessary three scoring runs to figure in the 2025 competition, with Chris Desmond leading Simon Hallpike by eight points in this final series of the handicap in its present form.
The fifth race of the 2025 series is over the alternate five mile course. It starts from the Sevenoaks School track at 08:30 on Sunday 25th May. Handicaps for runners who have participated in the last twelve months are here, but newcomers are very welcome to take part. Details are on the Sevenoaks AC website here.
