Kent Young Athletes League - Erith 10 August 2008


Windy conditions made it a tough at the final Kent Young Athlete League at Erith on the 10th August. But despite a depleted team due to holidays the club did well to place 3rd in the Girls and 4th in the boys overall over the 4 meetings, writes Darrell Smith.

DIVISION 2 - U13

In the U13s Simone Baxter ran well in the 75m but had to pull out of the rest of the meet due to injury. We wish her a  speedy recovery. Francesca Adams had a busy day racking up 26 points for the club (1 more than her sister Tabitha) who ran a great 1000m time of 3.24 in addition to competing well High jump and Shot.

DIVISION 2 - U15

Like the U13s the U15s placed 3rd team at Erith. Lucy Martin had her first competition of the year and showed good speed by running 16 sec for 100m despite being more of a distance runner!. In the 200m Megan Annetts ran 31.8 and Megan Hawes ran 47.9 in the 300m.

The 800m saw the two Megans and Caitlin Carr line up in the 800m. All three ran strong races with Megan Hawes taking the race by the throat at 400m to go taking the lead and maintaining her lead to the finish in her. Megan Annetts won the B race and Caitlin (who also High jumped 1.20) ran all the way to the line for a 2.58 (unofficial) clocking.

DIVISION 2 - U13
 
Missing the likes of Charlie Mumbray in the field and Lewis Church on the track the U13s were never going to match their great win at Hoo. However there were some good performances. Sam Annetts clocked 14 points for the club sprinting to a 16.7 in 100m and a 33.9 in the 200m. Miles Hawes also competed in the 200m running a 34sec but saved his best for the 800m where he ran 2.45.9, his fastest 800m in competition this season
