Kent Cross County League - Capstone Park, Chatham - 4 Oct 2008

Sevenoaks AC fielded a slightly under strength men’s team to the first round of the Kent County Athletics Cross County League which was held at Capstone Park, Chatham on Saturday 4th October 2008, writes Rob Carr. A few of our top men’s runners were unavailable and of those that could make it, most were recovering from illness and injuries.

Although conditions were made difficult by strong winds, conditions underfoot were perfect for the field of 132 top runners from all over Kent. The winner was Michael Coleman of Medway & Maidstone AC in a very quick 30:13.

The best SAC performer was Chris Desmond who finished in an impressive 47th place in a time of 37:16. He was followed by Keith Brown, a welcome newcomer to the SAC XC team in 61st place (38:45).

A bit further back, the third SAC finisher was Rob Carr (82nd - 40:50) closely followed by Fraser Partridge (85th -  41:04) and Rob Peers (91st - 41:41). The combined first 4 placed results left SAC in 11th place (see table below).

We hope to improve on this by fielding a stronger team at the next event which is Saturday 25 October 2008 Mote Park, Maidstone
